75-year-old robbed by ‘policeman’

A tea stall owner was allegedly robbed of Rs 16,500 in the Andheria Mor area of Mehrauli on Saturday. The police said Hari Kishan (75) has claimed his assailant was wearing a police uniform.

A tea stall owner was allegedly robbed of Rs 16,500 in the Andheria Mor area of Mehrauli on Saturday. The police said Hari Kishan (75) has claimed his assailant was wearing a police uniform.

The police said Hari Kishan had gone to Andheria Mor to buy some building materials. “I was walking when a man in a police uniform stopped me and told me I was a terrorist,and asked me to produce some identification. I told him I did not have any on me but could take him home and show him my voter identity card,” Kishan stated in his complaint.

The police said the accused then made him sit on his scooter and rode till the vegetable market at Andheria Mor. He then steered the scooter into an isolated street before forcing a handkerchief onto Kishan’s face. After sniffing the handkerchief,Kishan fell unconscious.

“When he came around about 45 minutes later he found the Rs 16,500 he was carrying were missing. He stopped an autorickshaw and used the driver’s phone to call the police,” a senior police officer said. The police said a case will be registered after his claims have been verified.
