4 dead in Noida as car coming from wrong direction hits tractor

The incident took place when the men were returning to Delhi after having dinner in Noida around 1.30 am on Monday.

Four persons died and one sustained injuries after their car, which was coming from the wrong direction, hit a tractor at Sector 24 in Noida early Monday.

The police identified the deceased as Mohit Kumar (25), Vishal Kumar (26), Manish Kotiyal (24) and Himanshu Singh (24) – all residents of New Kondli in East Delhi. The injured man, Uttam Kumar (25), also a resident of New Kondli, is undergoing treatment at a district hospital.

Additional Commissioner of Police Manish Kumar Mishra told The Indian Express, “The road where the accident occurred is a single lane and the tractor was moving in the right direction. The car, however, was being driven on the wrong side of the road.”

Noida Deputy Commissioner of Police Rambadan Singh said the accident occurred on the road connecting Sector 10 and Sector 11 in Noida. “The car was speeding…,” he added.

The tractor, meanwhile, has been taken into police custody. A case has been lodged under sections 106(1) (causing death due to negligence) and 125 (act endangering life and safety of others) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
