Son tied up in same room,man killed
In a brutal attack that unfolded in front of a 10-year-old,a property dealer was strangulated,stabbed and clubbed to death by four unidentified assailants at his Khanpur home in Neb Sarai,South Delhi.
Dalbir Singh Yadavs son Yash was the sole witness to the murder. The criminals struck around 9 am on Friday morning. Though the house was found ransacked,the entry appeared to be friendly,officers said.
Police suspect the deceaseds estranged wife,Reena,to be behind the attack.
Singhs relatives told Newsline that his eldest daughter,Deeksha was away at Maitreyi College and second daughter Ashu was in DPS Vasant Kunj. Only Yash was home.
Yash told us four men knocked the door and came in. One gagged the boy and tied his hands. The others repeatedly stabbed Dalbir,who had five to six stab injuries on his stomach and hand. He was also strangulated and clubbed with a heavy object, a senior police official said.
After the attack,the assailants left with the child still tied up. The boys uncle,Karambeer Yadav,who stays next door,told Newsline,Yash somehow managed to come to the balcony and raised an alarm. I rushed in to find Dalbir in a pool of blood. Yadav called the police,who took Dalbir to AIIMS,where he was declared dead on arrival.
A case has been registered in Neb Sarai police station.Police said 12 days ago,Reena and Dalbir had a fight and Dalbir allegedly hit her with a heavy object. Reena received five stitches and registered an FIR against Dalbir. Since then,she has been staying separately.
Reena is Dalbirs second wife,said the police. He had divorced his first wife about 15 years ago.
Trader shot dead,2 injured
A 58-year-old businessman was shot dead while two others sustained injuries after assailants opened fire on the Santro car in which four people were travelling in Shalimar Bagh area of Northwest Delhi on Thursday night.
Trader Kanhaiya Lal Sachdeva was killed,while his nephew Ashish and younger brother Diwan Chand sustained gun shot injuries. Sachdevas son Manoj escaped unhurt.
The incident occurred when Sachdeva was dropping off his brother Divan Chand at his in M-block residence in Shalimar Bagh. Both own shops in Lajpat Rai Market near the Red Fort,and they used to travel back home on a daily basis.
As Chand and his son Ashish got off the car,masked men on motorcycles and a black car parked in front of the house,approached them.
All the assailants were wearing masks, said Divan Chand,outside Sachdevas residence in CP 209,Pitampura. They asked us for our bag. When we refused,an altercation ensued and we pushed one of the assailants to the ground and tried to escape. After that,they began firing heavily at the vehicle. The whole incident lasted 15 minutes.
The accused fled with a bag from Sachdevas car. The police said the bag contained just documents and account registers.
Sachdeva received four bullet injuries and was rushed to Max Hospital in Pitampura. He succumbed to injuries while being transferred to Max Hospital in Saket.
We kept on dialling 100 but could not get through, Divan Chand claimed. The PCR van reached 30 minutes after we called them. The family ruled out personal enmity as a motive. A case of attempt to murder,murder and robbery against unknown assailants has been registered at the Shalimar Bagh police station.
Man shot dead over borrowed money
A 25-year-old man was shot by five assailants in Gandhi Nagar,East Delhi,around 11.30 pm on Thursday.
An officer said the deceased,Bhupendra Jain,and the five accused had an argument money outside Jains house late last evening when the assailants pulled the trigger. The accused are absconding,the officer said. Jain had reportedly borrowed money from the assailants and the argument was over returning the amount,the officer added.
Snatchers fire at 24-yr-old
A 24-year-old man was shot at by three men on a motorbike around 9 am Friday after he resisted their attempts to snatch his bag. The victim,identified as Rajender Kumar,was operated upon at AIIMS and is now stated to be out of danger.
Kumar worked as clerk in a small construction company in Bhogal,and was walking to his office this morning when he was attacked,an officer said. The bag,however,had some documents,his tiffin box and Rs 500. Nizamudin police have registered a case of robbery and attempt to murder.
Courier man shot at
A 25-year-old courier delivery man was allegedly shot at thrice by unidentified assailants in Mandawali,East Delhi on Friday morning. The incident took place outside a Corporation Bank branch located within the premises of Plato Public School. The victim,one Rupesh Kumar,is recuperating at a local hospital,the police said. Rupesh told us that one of them shot at him as soon as he parked his bike outside the school and got off, the officer said. He ran inside but the man had shot at him twice more,before the trio fled. A case has been registered.
