2-yr-old rescued,kidnapper held

The Southeast Delhi police arrested the domestic help who had kidnapped his employer’s two-year-old son last week.

The Southeast Delhi police arrested the domestic help who had kidnapped his employer’s two-year-old son last week. The child was also rescued from the accused,Shravan Kumar Mandal,28,home in Bihar.

Mandal,who had planned the kidnapping with his associates,took the child to Bihar and then demanded Rs 2 crore from the family for the child’s safe release. Mandal belongs to Madhubani in Bihar and had been working in the victim’s home for last two years.

Aditya Khemka,who runs a franchise of Reliance Web World in Faridabad and stays with his family in Kalkaji,had reported on July 18 that his two-year-old son,Hritvik,was kidnapped and his domestic help Mandal was also missing from the house. Khemka also told the police that Mandal’s two close associates — Rajesh and Ranjit — were also missing.

Khemka’s wife received a ransom call on July 20. The police traced the call to a PCO in Darbhanga,Bihar. The family received another call on July 21. A team of Kalkaji police,meanwhile,apprehended Mandal in Bihar and rescued Hritvik.

“Shravan met Rajesh,who also belongs to his home district and was jobless,and planned to kidnap the child,” a senior officer said.

The other accused are yet to be arrested.
