27-yr-old held for raping minor

A 27-year-old man was arrested on Monday night by the West Delhi police on charges of raping a minor last week.

A 27-year-old man was arrested on Monday night by the West Delhi police on charges of raping a minor last week. The medical examination of the victim had confirmed rape.

Police officials said the victim,a student of Class VIII,had gone to her friends house in Kirti Nagar on March 24. On her way back,two men in their twenties abducted her,took her to a slum cluster nearby where another man was waiting,the officials said.

The accused,identified as Dinesh Kumar,raped the victim,the police said. She was dropped outside her house and the accused threatened her with dire consequences if she told anyone,officials said.

The girl later confided in her parents,who then took her to the Kirti Nagar police station to lodge a complaint. A medical examination at a city hospital confirmed rape,after which a case was registered, a senior police officer said.

The two friends of the accused,who have been booked for kidnapping,are absconding.
