Noida: Two held for murder of college student

The duo had destroyed their phones and SIM cards to evade arrest, said the police, adding that they were arrested at Shashi Chowk near Noida City Centre on Friday.

According to the police, Aman was also a student of Amity University, and he and the deceased did not get along.

“They were friends initially and Aman had visited the victim’s apartment a few times. But their relationship soured later. Aman claimed that Sandesh bullied him frequently and had also beaten him up a couple of times,” said Vijay Dhull, Circle Officer, City 1st, Noida.

Aman told the police that Sandesh, along with his friends, used to mock him in their native language. “Aman was very irritated with that. The victim, along with his friends, had also roughed him up a few times,” said Dhull.

Aman, a resident of Panipat in Haryana, had sought help from his friend Mintu to commit the murder, said the police.

“Aman told Mintu about his problems with Sandesh… Aman was very angry and could not let go of the incidents. They decided to murder him together,” said a police officer.

At Aman’s behest, Mintu procured a country-made pistol, with which the duo shot Sandesh, said the police.

There were no eye-witnesses to the incident, but the victim’s room partners had heard the gun shot and had heard Sandesh screaming “Aman don’t kill me” along with gunshots. There were no CCTV cameras in the premises and the assailant’s identification could not be verified on that particular day.
