Delhi: 19 girls molested by PT teacher in MCD school, say police

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Prem Nath confirmed that a case had been registered and that police had begun investigations. “After the case was registered, police have started recording the statements of all the victims with the help of a counsellor,” a senior police officer said.

Another senior police officer of South district said the MCD school was situated in Jaunpur village in Fatehpur Beri area. The accused has been working at the school for the last five years. “The incident came to light a few days ago when the victims’ parents staged a protest outside the school premises and demanded strict action against the accused. The parents initially approached the school principal and asked him to take action against the accused. They later made a PCR call and lodged a complaint with police,” the officer said.

The victims have alleged that the accused molested them on the pretext of teaching them moves during exercise sessions.

“The incident came to light when one of the victims refused to go to school. When her mother asked her why she didn’t want to go to school, she started crying and refused to speak. Later, she told her mother about it. She told her that the accused had been molesting her for the last one month on the pretext of teaching her exercises,” the officer said.

Acoording to police, the accused threatened to kill her and her parents if she spoke about it to anyone. The victims were sent for a medical examination.

Mayor of South corporation Subhash Arya said, “We have ordered an inquiry after we came to know about the incident and suspended the accused.”
