12 Aam Aadmi Mohalla clinics, 13 govt dispensaries to be modified at cost of Rs 2.55 cr

The BJP-led Delhi government has issued orders to modify 12 Aam Aadmi Mohalla clinics as Urban Ayushman Arogya Mandir (UAAM) and 13 Delhi government dispensaries as Ayushman Arogya Mandir Primary Health Centres (PHC). The total cost of modification will be Rs 2.55 crore.
The modification has to be completed on an urgent basis, underlined letter written by the chief engineer, health to special secretary, infrastructure, for approval. “As are being monitored at the highest level of Delhi government, and beyond and are being considered as Model for such type of Ayushman Arogya Mandir PHC & UAAM buildings,” read the letter.
The 12 Aam Aadmi Mohalla clinics are located in New Delhi and Central District in unauthorised colonies and Jhuggi Jhopri clusters. Among the 13 Delhi government dispensaries, two each are located in North West and South West Delhi, and one each in nine other districts.
The average cost for the upgrade has been kept at Rs 15 lakh for the government dispensary and Rs 5 lakh each for the mohalla clinics. “The total amount required for such works is Rs 2.55 crore,” said the letter.
“It was also desired to give a rough estimate for carrying out the said upgradation to the extent possible under which it is submitted that the average cost for such upgradation per dispensary will be around Rs 15 lakh each for 13 listed DGD 15×13 = i.e. Rs. 1.95 Cr. In addition the average cost for upgradation of the AAMC to Urban Ayushman Arogya Mandir is @ Rs. 5 lakh each for 12 Nos comes out to = 5×12 Rs. 0.60 Cr. Therefore, the total amount required for such work is Rs. 2.55 Cr,” said the letter.
It further added that to execute these works, permission may be granted to utilise the fund allotted under the dispensary head to execute these works where the budget seems available.
Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh, soon after taking charge last month, had announced the decision to rename the AAP’s Mohalla clinics. He had also announced that 250 such clinics running from rented spaces will be shut.
The move is part of the newly elected government’s 100-day plan.
