Lokayukta police raid 7 govt officials

The Karnataka Lokayukta police searched Thursday morning properties of seven government officials.

The Karnataka Lokayukta police searched Thursday morning properties of seven government officials,including the personal secretary to state minister for information technology and biotech S R Patil,for allegedly amassing disproportionate assets.

Additional Director General of Police (Lokayukta) H N Sathyanarayana Rao said 21 properties,including those of Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) officer H V Omkarmurthy in Bangalore and former Bagalkot district treasury chief accountant B B Athani,were raided.

Sources said Athani was now personal secretary to Patil.

The searches were carried out in Bangalore,Bagalkot,Bijapur,Bidar,Chitradurga,Chickmagalur,Hassan and Gulbarga districts.

“Based on credible information,our police teams conducted raids and unearthed illegal assets to the tune of Rs 7.5 crore,” Rao said. There were,however,no arrests.
