Cabinet reshuffle in Tamil Nadu: T R B Rajaa to be inducted, S M Nasar dropped
This is the second time the M K Stalin-led government is adding a member to the cabinet after he assumed charge in May 2021.

The first phase of the long-speculated cabinet reshuffle in Tamil Nadu will take place on Tuesday with T R B Rajaa, son of DMK MP T R Baalu and three-time MLA from the Mannargudi constituency, set to be inducted into the council of ministers.
An official release from the Raj Bhavan on Tuesday noted that Tamil Nadu Minister for Milk and Dairy Development S M Nasar has been dropped from the council of ministers.
“The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu (M K Stalin) has recommended to the Governor of Tamil Nadu (R N Ravi) to induct Dr T R B Rajaa, Mannargudi Assembly Constituency, in the Council of Ministers. The Governor has approved the recommendation. The Swearing-in-Ceremony of the Minister Designate will be held on 11th May 2023 at 10.30 a.m. at Durbar Hall, Raj Bhavan, Chennai,” the release read.
Rajaa is a member of the state Planning Commission. Taking to Twitter, he thanked the DMK first family, including former TN chief minister M Karunanidhi, Chief Minister M K Stalin and Youth Welfare and Sports Development Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, for the opportunity.

It is to be noted that this is the second time the Stalin-led government is adding a member to the cabinet after he assumed charge in May 2021. Earlier in December 2022, Stalin’s son Udhayanidhi was elevated as minister.
It was speculated that Tamil Nadu Finance Minister Palanivel Thiaga Rajan may be relieved of his portfolio in the cabinet reshuffle as he was embroiled in a controversy after two audio clips purportedly featuring his voice were leaked by a whistle-blower and BJP state unit president K Annamalai last month. The clips alleged corruption within Stalin’s family. However, Rajan dismissed the audio clips as fake and doctored.
Nasar, who was reportedly dropped due to poor performance, was recently in the news after a video of him hurling a stone at a party worker went viral on social media.

A portfolio change is on the cards for a few more ministers in the coming days, sources said.
