Popular YouTuber Vasan arrested after bike stunt goes awry on Chennai-Bengaluru highway

Kancheepuram SP M Sudhakar told indianexpress.com that Vasan was picked up from a friend’s place, where he had moved to from a private hospital after receiving treatment.

The B-4 Baluchetty Chatram police booked the vlogger under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide), and Motor Vehicles Act sections 184 (dangerous driving that can lead to on-road fatalities) and 188 (punishment for abetment of certain offences).

In a video on Monday, Vasan’s friend Ajeesh, a fellow rider who was with him on the ride to Maharashtra when the accident occurred, said the YouTuber was out of danger but he would be required to undergo surgery for a broken wrist. Ajeesh said Vasan, who was set to play the lead role in the upcoming Tamil movie Manjal Veeran, would not be able to ride a bike for at least four months.

A video of the accident around 4.32 pm Sunday showed Vasan being thrown off the bike on the highway and onto the bushes. He was immediately rushed to the hospital by onlookers.

Netizens have slammed the biker for riding at such a high speed on a highway, posing a danger for him and others who commute on the road. They said his risky stunts may influence his young followers to imitate him and lead to fatal injuries.

The YouTuber was called out for rash driving and had cases filed against him for violating traffic guidelines previously also.
