Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and ousted All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) leader O Panneerselvam popularly known as OPS is planning a mega conference on April 24 in Tiruchirapalli in which former CM J Jayalalithaa’s aide and expelled leader V K Sasikala would be invited.

OPS on Sunday told reporters in Madurai that the event, dubbed as ‘Mupperum vizha’, will be held to mark the birth anniversaries of party stalwarts M G Ramachandran, and Jayalalithaa, apart from celebrating 50 years of the formation of AIADMK.

“The cadres in Tamil Nadu will congregate in large numbers and demonstrate the vigour of AIADMK,” OPS said.

When asked whether leaders such as former MLAs A Anwar Raja, and K C Palanisami who were expelled by AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami will be invited, Panneerselvam said that they all would be taking part in the event and claimed they are very much part of the party. He said that all senior leaders will be invited for the event.

Commenting on the participation of Sasikala, Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) leader T T V Dhinakaran, OPS said they would be invited and all the formal announcements regarding the meeting will be provided one after the other.

A couple of weeks ago, the Madras High Court rejected all the pleas filed by deposed leader OPS and his supporters against AIADMK’s general council meeting and its resolutions passed on July 11. The court verdict cleared the path for Edappadi, who was then the party’s interim general secretary, to rise to the top post of the party.
