(@actorvijay/X)Amid speculations of actor Vijay planning to hold his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam’s (TVK) first public rally in a southern district, the party’s general secretary N Anand rubbished the claims and urged people not to believe any such news.
On Friday, taking to X, Anand said that their leader had made it clear in his statement on February 2 that any public meetings on behalf of the party would take place only after the completion of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
Further, Anand reiterated he mentioned in his statement on February 19 that the membership drive of the party would take place only through their official app, which is planned to be launched soon, and special camps would be conducted towards it too.
“Members of the party and public are requested not to believe any news spread based on conjecture or maliciously, except for announcements made through official social media pages of the party,” a statement issued by Anand read.
Anand’s post comes in the wake of a local reports stating that TVK’s public rally is set to take place in the second week of April at Madurai where several others, including late Captain Vijayakanth, actor Kamal Haasan and TTV Dhinakaran had launched their respective party’s first political rallies. There were other reports too which claimed that the rally had been planned on June 22, on the occasion of Vijay’s birthday.
A few days ago, a meeting of the TVK members was held at the party head office in Panaiyur. As per the statement issued by the party headquarters, the meeting was held over the membership of TVK to further expand the internal party structure.
Anand, TVK General secretary, in his statement informed the members that the camps have to be conducted across the state district wise as well as at the Assembly constituency level to strengthen the grass root infrastructure of Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam.
It was noted that party president Vijay will soon announce an exclusive women-led membership wing to spearhead the membership drive.
The statement further urged all members to work in unison and ensure to reach the target of achieving two crore new members of the party.

“As far as I am concerned, politics is not just another profession; it is a sacred service to the people…I wish to fully immerse myself in politics for public service after completing my commitments to another film I have already committed to, without causing any disruption to party activities. This is what I consider my gratitude and duty to the people of Tamil Nadu,” Vijay’s statement read.
His team of members were seen in New Delhi on that day to initiate the process of formally registering the party with the Election Commission.
