The Railway Over Bridge (ROB) at the Zirakpur railway crossing has now been thrown open to the general public from the Zirakpur to Panchkula side too. Earlier, vehicles were allowed only from Panchkula to Zirakpur as the other side was under construction.

“We have opened it from the Zirakpur side in the night,” said National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) Project Director Anil Dahiya. Now,the railway crossing will soon be closed.

With this the people living in nearby areas will have to cover an additional 3-4 km to cross into Panchkula through the ROB. This is the only ROB on the 28.69-km four-lane Zirakpur to Parwanoo project on national highway 22 (NH-22).

The project road is up to Mallah,Pinjore, and then there is a by-pass to Parwanoo (about 11 km). It is a Rs 295 crore project, which is expected to be completed by December 2011.
