Women power marks rally

Both the rallies emphasised on the message of women's safety and road safety.

With their gleaming car in the background,Anita Budhiraja and her navigator Rajneesh Budhiraja posed for the shutterbugs while the proud owners of other classic and vintage cars squeezed themselves to get into the frame. Anita and Rajneesh had just emerged as the winners in the SantaBanta.com women’s car rally held in Chandigarh. Renu Tiwari and her navigator Narita Tewari came second while the third spot was bagged by Nidhi Aulakh and her navigator Purnima Jaspal.

The event was held to mark the celebration of international Women’s Day and salute the indomitable spirit of Indian women.

“We were happy to see women from the city and the adjoining areas participating in the event with such enthusiasm. Both the rallies emphasised on the message of women’s safety and road safety. It came as a delightful surprise that the winner in the Classic and Vintage Car Rally too was a women,” said JD Ghai,founder-cum-CEO of SantaBanta.com.

Meanwhile,riding in her vintage car,Mitali Sharma and her navigator deservedly emerged as winners. They were followed by Prabhdeep Singh Ghai and his navigator Suryansh at the second place while BS Manco and his navigator Gayee came third.

Both the rallies began from Hotel Park Plaza,and ended at the parking opposite Government Museum and Art Gallery,Sector 10 after about three hours. The rallies had a competitive run of about 70 to 80 kilometers in the city,based on the Time-Speed-Distance (TSD) format.

Members of the Carmel Ex-Students Association (CESA) and the Sacred Heart Ex-Students Association also participated in the event. The rally was organised by SantaBanta.com in association with Team Chandigarh Adventure Sports.
