An FIR against the woman, identified as Taj Alam, 54, and her son, Shaheed Khan, 28, was lodged at the Sector 26 police station following a complaint by Mohit Sharma, a resident of Sector 30-B.

A woman and her son have been booked by the Chandigarh Police for allegedly selling cow meat without authorisation.
An FIR against the woman, identified as Taj Alam, 54, and her son, Shaheed Khan, 28, was lodged at the Sector 26 police station following a complaint by Mohit Sharma, a resident of Sector 30-B.
According to Sharma, he had received information about the sale of cow meat at a house in Sector 27-C. On visiting the premises, he was reportedly allowed in by the accused woman. Inside the veranda, Sharma claimed he saw a man, Shaheed, packing meat into seven-eight packets, with iron cutting tools placed nearby. Both allegedly admitted to supplying cow meat.
Sharma then immediately alerted the police through the emergency helpline.
Police officers recovered several packets of suspected cow meat along with the cutting tools. A veterinary doctor from the Government Veterinary Hospital, Manimajra, was also called to examine the meat on-site.
Following court directions from the Duty Magistrate, the bulk meat was sealed and later destroyed by burial in a forested area, while the tools were seized as evidence.
Police have registered a case under sections 196, 299, and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against the accused.
