Himachal PWD Minister and Congress candidate from the Mandi Lok Sabha constituency, Vikramaditya Singh said that he didn’t ask for the party ticket but was grateful that the central leadership and state leaders selected him.

“We will win Mandi and three other seats in the fray based on local issues,” he said.

“Jai Ram Thakur should take care of his house. Everything is fine in the Congress. I respect him a lot, but he should manage his house which is in disorder since the induction of the six Congress rebels who were disqualified. The Congress is a democratic party. There is freedom for everyone to speak. It is not like BJP where only one leader speaks and others keep mum,” Vikramaditya said.

Vikramaditya, who has been pitted against BJP’s Kangana Ranaut in Mandi, said, “It will be better for us if we talk about issues and matters related to Himachal Pradesh.”

Without naming his opponent from Mandi and referring to the recent beef controversy, Vikramaditya said, “It is the prerogative of the RSS, VHP and Bajrang Dal to look after what people eat and drink. It can be an issue for them, not for me. We are the followers of Dev Aamaj. My father Virbhadra Singh was the first chief minister in the country who brought the anti-conversion law in a state (Himachal Pradesh), and when he did it, RSS and VHP people congratulated him.”

Meanwhile, Sukhu appreciated Vikramaditya for the work done in Mandi and Kullu when a natural disaster struck the state last year. “People of Mandi know who was standing with them when the natural calamity hit their area. The man was Vikramaditya Singh who stood by them day and night,” Sukhu said.
