Looting someone coming out of a bank is not a one-day job. The thieves are smart enough to do a recce for a few days before they strike at their target, and most of the time, they are caught unawares. That is why we have asked the rich to inform us when they go to banks to withdraw huge amounts, said Choudhary.
Apart from verbally communicating about the drive to the wealthy, the police have also issued four-point guidelines that would be circulated by station house officers in areas under their jurisdiction. The guidebook advises people to use cheques or drafts when big money is involved. In case police help is not required, then at least a private security guard should tag along.
