IT was scheduled to release in August, right after her debut film,Mummy Punjabi. But journalist-turned-writer and director,Pammi Somal, had to push the release date of her second film,Na Jaane Kabse. The romcom finally hits the theatres across India this Friday. “I wanted to release this one soon after my first film. The way Mummy Punjabi was overshadowed by Bodyguard,I didn’t want to take the risk again,” says Somal, who has her fingers crossed for this film, which features Amrita Prakash and Gary Gill in lead roles. Prakash, who has played character roles in films such as Tum Bin and Vivaah,as the sister of the protagonists, essays the role of Anjali in Na Jaane Kabse. She agrees with co-star Gill that having a godfather in the film industry makes things easier. “No one wants to admit it,but it’s the truth,” says Prakash, adding that her character in Na Jaane Kabse is so much like her — fun-loving and full of life. “Anjali’s father (Sharad Saxena) is over-protective. She is like a Plain Jane, but full of pranks nonetheless,” Prakash explains. Ludhiana-based Gill is happy to play the ‘tragedy king’ in the film. “I am the hopeless romantic,” says Gill, flexing his muscles. Somal admits that the film is a tale of two quirky people and is on the lines of Jab We Met. The film also stars Sharad Saxena,Ayub Khan and Lillete Dubey.
