Attacking the SAD-BJP alliance over its failure to lift wheat from the mandis, Congress spokesperson Nimisha Mehta said the failure has once again exposed the state government’s claim of bringing ‘acche din’. Mehta alleged that Adesh Partap Singh Kairon who has been the minister for food and civil supplies for the past nine years is responsible for the sufferings of farmers in mandis. Demanding a white paper on missing foodgrains worth over 12,000 crores the Congress spokesperson said that the Badal government owes an explanation on this issue. [related-post] She further claimed that since Badal’s son-in-law took over as food minister the cash credit limit (CCL) for procurement of foodgrains never got cleared on time. “Earlier, the Badal government use to blame the Congress government at the Centre for delay, but now the Chief Minister must come forward and explain why CCL has not been cleared by their own NDA government,” Mehta said.
