The sky, mountains and now the sea — for Archana Sardana there are no limits to getting an adventure high. “The great outdoors have beckoned me since I was a child and that’s where I find my calling,’’ says the skydiver, base jumper and mountaineer. Sardana is now looking forward to exploring the deep,as she has become the first Indian woman to qualify as Master Scuba Diving Trainer in Phuket,Thailand. “It was an exhilarating experience to unfurl the Indian flag at a depth of 18 m depth, off Neil Island in Port Blair,’’ Sardana says, adding that it was a challenging experience, one that she hopes to share with Chandigarh’s swimmers, especially children. Deep sea diving, adds Sardana is an activity that needs to be encouraged and introduced to people in the city. “The training can begin from the swimming pool and then later the seas can be explored,” says Sardana.
