Verbal duel between BJP,Virbhadra intensifies

A day after the Election Commission announced the dates for the Himachal Assembly elections,the ongoing verbal duel between state Congress president and Himachal BJP president Satpal Satti intensified over the former accusing the state of misusing government funds on advertisements.

Claiming that the charges were misleading and inappropriate and a jealous Congress wants to garner a political mileage,Satti said: Under Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumals leadership,the government has created history by generating employment avenues for educated youth. It has employed over 40,000 people in the government and over 70,000 in the private sector.

He added: In 2003,during Virbhadra Singhs term,the state had entered into an MoU with the Centre committing not to make any recruitments in the government sector. Only 3,086 jobs were created.

Saying that the BJP government had not only made several recruitments but also created additional posts to generate new employment avenues,Satti said: The people of Himachal Pradesh will vote BJP back to power in the coming elections and more jobs will be created in both public and private sectors.

Satti also went on to ask Virbhadra whether the previous Congress government had added even Re 1 to the Social Security Pension scheme started by veteran BJP leader Shanta Kumar. The scheme,which originally started with giving Rs 50 per month to the elderly,widows and the disabled,has been upgraded by the BJP whenever it came to power. Now,it stood at Rs 450 per month, he added.
