UT cadre war stalls development

With the orders of fresh reshuffling of departments from CHB chairman Satya Gopal to UT Home Secretary and UT Finance Secretary,the UT Administration now claims that the CHB chairman is required to concentrate and expedite the projects of underpasses,completion of the Nehru Centre of Performing Arts,slum rehab flats under JNNURM and that is why other charges have been taken from him.

With the administration officials busy in their own balancing act,the projects continue to hang fire.

Even after over two years,the UT Administration has failed to come up with the Industrial policy despite industrialists and businessmen in the city having repeatedly submitted representations to UT officials seeking a policy.

Secondly,the fate of Educity,the only Mega project which is still alive,after the debacle of other mega projects such as the film City,Theme Cum Amusement Park,still hangs in balance. With no progress on this front either,the project is on the verge of dying its own death.

“ There is hardly any monitoring from the topmost level as far as the administration is concerned. In the given circumstances,it is but natural that the officials who come to the UT Administration to serve a three year term just pass their time and the get repatriated least bothering about the city and its development”,said an official of the UT Administration.

In the past two year,the construction arm of the UT,CHB,has only been busy with completing the slum rehabilitation projects putting all other general housing schemes in the back burner.

Similarly,two new blocks each of which were to come up in Government Multi Speciality Hospital,Sector 16 and Government Medical College and Hospital,Sector 32 which were to be completed two years back are still to be completed.
