Two students arrested for snatching phone,cash

The Chandigarh Police arrested two students of Institute of Cooperative Managements,Sector 32,on Sunday on charges of snatching a mobile phone and cash from a youth last night.

The Chandigarh Police arrested two students of Institute of Cooperative Managements,Sector 32,on Sunday on charges of snatching a mobile phone and cash from a youth last night. The accused have been identified as Kanu Awasthi and Mandip.

“Sunil,the victim,had come out for a walk and was sitting near Sector 31-32 lightpoint. The duo thrashed him,snatched a mobile phone and Rs 300 from him” said Vijay Kumar,Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP),South.

Sunil raised an alarm,following which local residents and a police team,sttaioned nearby,nabbed Mandip. Kanu Awasthi tried to escape,but was also nabbed.

While Kanu,24,hails from Gurdaspur,Mandip,24,belongs to Jalandhar. A case on charges of snatching

has been registered against the duo,who have been taken in two days’ police custody.
