It’s a well-known fact that when it comes to shopping for Western wear for ladies like evening gowns and dresses,Chandigarh stores have limited options. This is something that 33-year-old entrepreneur Disha Jolly has noticed for a while. Her label Bebek,which is currently showcasing its autumn-winter lineup at an ongoing exhibition,is looking specifically to address that issue. Only,Jolly has sought help from Turkey for sourcing her garments. Not many people are aware that just like India,where most international labels get their outfits manufactured,Turkey also manufactures for many designer houses, informs Jolly.

A chance meeting with a friend,who was engaged in the business of imports from Istanbul,got Jolly to work out a plan. I noticed a demand for party wear that was in sync with European fashion and therefore I stuck to the concept with my label, adds Jolly,who recently held two exhibitions in Delhi and one in Mumbai. Bebek,which means Babe in Turkish,offers everything from off-shoulder jumpsuits to strappy dresses,flowing silk kaftans,cowl-neck shirts,skirts,silk scarves and stoles. The styling is smart and there are a lot of prints at play in silk,georgette,satin and the like. Also the sizing chart with Bebek is on international lines. Theres Size 1 to 4,so one might need help to figure the right fit. We have multiple sizes in all styles,as I realised that women here dont prefer a snug fit, says Jolly. Prices start at Rs 1,500.
