Trio rape Class 7 student,villagers block NH-1

A day after a minor girl was allegedly raped by three youths who picked her up from near a police station,irate villagers blocked the busy national Highway on Tuesday morning and evening.

A day after a minor girl was allegedly raped by three youths who picked her up from near a police station,irate villagers blocked the busy national Highway (NH)-1 on Tuesday morning and evening.

Villagers who had blocked the NH in Kartarpur in the morning,lifted the blockade after the police officials assured them of arresting the culprits by the evening. However,as the police failed to trace out the trio,the villagers again took to the street and blocked the busy stretch for more than two hours leading to kilometres long traffic jam. Police had to resort to mild lathicharge to disperse the mob. Earlier,a minor girl from Sekhwan Kooh in Kartarpur alleged that she was raped by three youths – Parmel Singh Pamma and Jassa of Sekhwan Khooh and Bhinda of Vidhipur.

The girl,a student of Class 7,in her statement to police said that she was returning home after attending tuition classes and was crossing a lane behind the Kartarpur police station when a white coloured Maruti Alto car stopped near hear.

One of the youths got out and pulled her inside the car in which the other two were already sitting. The girl alleged that the three youths took her to a lonely place and raped her. Before leaving her,the boys threatened her with dire consequences,police sources said.

The girl walked several kilometres to reach home and narrated the whole incident to her family following which a FIR was lodged with the police.

The police officials have booked the three accused but had not been able to arrest them till the filing of the report.
