No incident of hooliganism was reported on the Valentine’s Day. Thanks to the Chandigarh police,which had beefed up the security,the day passed off peacefully. Throughout the day the police were present in large numbers outside important places which they considered vulnerable. A total of 900 policemen,including 157 women constables were on duty.

There was high security and checking of outside vehicles entering the University was done. The police had placed special nakas on the Geri route and all the prominent places of the city.

All educational institutes including the Panjab University,Girls colleges and schools also saw a large presence of Police personnel. Police personnel were present in civil clothes near Sukhna Lake,Rose Garden,Rock Garden.

Meanwhile,the city residents both young and old thronged to markets and prominent places to celebrate the day. Couples were seen enjoying their day at the Sukhna Lake,Rose garden and prominent markets in the city.

Roses and chocolates were much in demand and the prices of roses in particular saw a steep jump. A single rose cost between Rs 30-50 today while rose bouquets started from Rs 150 and went up to Rs 3000. While the cards available in the market ranged from Rs 50 to rs 500 while the stuff toys available in the market ranged from rs 50 To Rs 10,000.

The Tricity security forces heaved a sigh of relief as the day passed peacefully.
