Three people,including two youths,were sentenced to 5 years in prison in a case of attempted robbery in Sector 11 last year. One of the accused was also held guilty for illegally keeping a weapon,which was used in the robbery attempt.
District and Sessions Judge,Ravi Kumar Sondhi,passed the sentence,while imposing a fine of Rs 2,000 on the three accused,identified as Krishan Kumar,Santosh Kumar and Shankar.
The court also sentenced the trio for a concurrent prison term of 3 years under section 452 of IPC for house trespass,said District Attorney,Amit Parmar,who pleaded the case on behalf of the state.
The court also sentenced Krishan Kumar to a 1-year term and a fine of Rs 1,000 under the Arms Act.
Last year in April,the accused had been arrested for attempting robbery at a house,while a country-made pistol and sharp-edged weapons were seized from them.
According to police,Krishan Kumar originally hails from Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh,Santosh hails from Jaunpur in UP,while Shankar came from Bihar.
District Attorney,Parmar,said although the person whose house they tried to rob had turned hostile in the case,a neighbour,who was an independent witness,supported the police case.
