Three killed in accidents

Three lives were snuffed out in three separate accidents in the last 24 hours.

Three lives were snuffed out in three separate accidents in the last 24 hours. While two of them were crushed on the spot,one of them succumbed to his injuries in Government Medical College and Hospital,Sector 32,Chandigarh.

Umaid Chand,60,was killed in a road accident when he was returning to his house in Manimajra around 7 pm on Sunday. He was crushed to death by a truck,being driven rashly by Budh Singh who was arrested later by the Chandigarh Police. As per police,Umaid was hit from behind. A case has been registered.

In another accident,25-year-old Hemant Sharma,a resident of Sector 20-C,Chandigarh,succumbed to his injuries after he was hit by a truck (HR-37A-4156) driven rashly by Prabhu Yadav,a resident of Darwa village. Sharma used to work with a private company.

The accident occurred near Hallo Majra light point on Sunday morning. Sharma suffered serious injuries and was taken to GMCH-32,Chandigarh,where he was declared dead on arrival. Yadav was arrested and later released by the Chandigarh Police. A case has been registered.

In the third incident which happened near the dividing road of Sector 50/63 on Sunday morning near Burail Jail when 57-year-old Babu Lal,a resident of Colony Number 5 and a shoemaker,was hit by an unidentified vehicle. He died on the spot.
