Three arrested for throwing acid on girl

The Jalandhar rural police have arrested three youths for allegedly throwing acid on a girl from Kapurthala districts Nadala village on January 10.

The Jalandhar rural police have arrested three youths for allegedly throwing acid on a girl from Kapurthala districts Nadala village on January 10. The crime was committed on the behest of a Sri Lankan woman,based in France.

The woman,who was married to a Kapurthala-based youth,wanted to deface the husbands girlfriend. The arrested have been identified as Jaspreet Singh a Dubai-based man,Jagjiwan and Sarbjot.

According to sources,Jaspreet had executed the crime at the instance of his cousin Kamaljeet Singhs wife. Kamaljeet,who was reportedly ready to dump his wife to marry his girlfriend back home,had managed to get residency in France with the help of his wife,said SSP Ashish Chaudhary.

Jaspreet came to India and stayed at Chintpurni. He hired Jagjiwan and Sarbjot from Khanpur village to throw acid on the girl working in a hospital at Nadala. However,the two threw acid on the wrong girl Daljit Kaur,in her early twenties,who also worked in the same hospital.

During interrogation,Jaspreet said that he had made had a deal of Rs 1 lakh with the Sri Lankan woman.
