Saturday evening will see a bevy of stars walk the red carpet rolled out by the PTC channel for its PTC Punjabi Music Awards. In its second year,the award ceremony is expected to be bigger and better. “Make that glamorous,” says the channel’s COO,Rajiee M Shinde. While Gulshan Grover and Punjabi cinema’s rising star,Diljit Dosanjh will be anchoring the ceremony this year,actors Kulraj Randhawa,Saleem and Surveen Chawla will be the star performers here. The event will also see a guest appearance by Ritesh and Genelia Deshmukh. “It’s for the first time that more than 89 celebrities are coming together on one platform to promote the Punjabi Film awards,” says Shinde,as she lists names of celebrities who are expected to grace the occasion — Anupam Kher,Dharamendra,Anita Raj,Prem Chopra,Avtar Gill,Deep Dhillon,Tulip Joshi and many more. “The live telecast will take place simultaneously in other countries,including the US and Canada,” says Shinde. This year,the award function will also pay a tribute to Dev Anand. “Last year was a great year for Punjabi cinema. Many films by new directors and with fresh talent were released,so we have a lot to choose from,” says Shinde. While films like Jihne Mera Dil Lutiya,Yaar Anmulle,Dharti,Ek Noor,Yaar a Naal Baharan,Lion Of Punjab have been nominated in the best film category,best music section will hear more nominations including Atul Sharma,Honey Singh,Anand Raj Anand etc. Tune in for the PTC Punjabi Film Awards,Saturday,February 18.
