The residents of Maloya have little place for recreation. A park in the area has been encroached upon by construction of a temple. The residents rue that due to the construction there is little space left for them in the park.

The construction of the temple in one of the parks started around a decade ago.

From a small structure,it gradually grew in size. Today, the temple occupies a substantial part of the park. Attempts to develop the park have been futile.

The Municipal Corporation had installed play equipment as well as benches in the park.

No traces of the equipment are left in the park now.

The residents managed to save the benches by installing them on one side.

Rattan,a resident of the area said that they have approached the authorities, but little action has been witnessed.

The parks have also become a place to install clothes lines and dry clothes. Another resident Ajay said,“They removed the play equipment installed in the park.

“No plantation can be carried out. The benches were saved after these were installed in one corner of the park,” he said.
