Tanuj Thakur of Aitchison House claimed the Harjesh Boparai Trophy for best athlete in the U-19 boys’ category on the concluding day of the Annual Athletics Meet of the Yadavindra Public School. Jigisha of Nalagarh House was one of the most successful players of the meet as she set seven new school records. Tagore House claimed the top spot while the second spot was claimed by Aitchison House. The third spot was claimed by Patiala House followed by Nalagarh House and Ranjit House.
On the final day,Jigisha claimed the top spot in the 110 meters hurdles race in the U-19 girls’ category with a timing of 23.28 seconds while the second spot was bagged by Harkiran of Tagore House who clocked 24.31 seconds. Amandeep of Aitchison House claimed the third spot with a time of 38.93 seconds. In the same event in the boys’ U-19 category,Tanuj Thakur of Aitchison House claimed the top spot with a timing of 21.5 seconds while the second spot was claimed by Mehnaaz of Patiala House with a timing of 23.4 seconds.
Savita declared best athlete
Savita was declared the best athlete in the 29th Annual Athletics Meet of Dev Samaj College of Education held at the college premises on Saturday. Deepika claimed the top spot in the 100 meters race while the second spot was claimed by Satjit. The third spot in the same event was claimed by Jaspreet. In the 50 meters race,Rajeshwar claimed the top spot while the second spot was claimed by Meenakshi.
Vampire XI carve out win Chandigarh : Splendid knocks by Sandeep Bhattcharya (82) and Guntashveer (54) enabled Vampire XI to beat Dell XI by 20 runs in a match during Inaugural Vampire Trophy played at Government Senior Secondary School ,Sector 19,Chandigarh on Saturday. On winning the toss,Dell XI asked Vampire XI to bat first. The decision proved wrong as Vampire XI opening duo of Sandeep Bhattcharya (82) and Guntashveer (54) hammered the bowlers on their will. Sandeep Bhattcharya attacked the bowlers particularly and briskly scored 56-ball 82. His knock included nine fours and two sixes while Guntashveer plundered eight fours.
