With the aim of providing recreational facilities to the residents of the southern sectors,a garden was inaugurated in Sector 47 on Friday.
Developed at a cost of Rs 15 lakh on an area of 1.76 acre,the garden has several facilities for morning and evening walkers. Inaugurating the garden,Municipal Commissioner Dr Roshan Sunkaria said the garden has several rain shelters,benches,play equipment for children and a concrete footpath and jogging track.
Dr Sunkaria said more parks and green belts will be developed in the future.
A number of proposals are in the pipeline for this sector,including development of two more parks,provision of a community parking lot,extension of the community centre and widening of internal roads, he added.
Executive Engineer,Horticulture,Arun Kansal said the garden has over 2,000 plants and trees,including Poinsettia shrubs,which bloom in winter and the Ixora in summers. Apart from this,400 shrubs like,Hamilia Dwarf,Single Chandni,Miniercet,Habiscus Veregaled,Jatropha and Bottle Palm have also been planted.
