A day after registering a case against two doctors and a lab technician for their negligence in the Suman case,the Chandigarh police is contemplating the setting up of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to speed up the investigation.
Police sources said the SIT team will,in all probability,be headed by the Station House Officer (SHO) sector 17,Ranjot Singh and he will assisted by two sub inspectors in the investigations.
We have almost decided to set a SIT to speed up the investigation in the Suman case. We have to record the statements of a lot of people,so it will be better to have a SIT in place, a senior police officer said.
The case was registered on Tuesday against House Surgeon Dr Manpreet,Intern Dr Navdeep and Lab Technician Kirti Sood,who were posted at the Government Multi Speciality Hospital (GMSH)- 16,where Suman was transfused wrong blood on December 16 last year resulting in the death of her nine-month-old foetus and causing damage to her kidneys. The case was registered in police station sector 17 under section 304-A (causing death by negligence) and 201( damaging the evidence) of the Indian Penal Code .
Police sources said that notices would be issued to the three accused to join the investigations. The lab technician is presently posted in GMSH while as the two doctors are not working in the hospital at the moment. But we know their whereabouts and they will be asked to join the investigations, a police officer said.
The case was registered by the police on the recommendations of a magisterial probe conducted by Sub Divisional Magistrate Kavle V Parashuram who had indicted the three and recommended a criminal case.
