Sukhbir warns Amarinder on Hansi-Butana row

Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Tuesday cautioned state Congress chief Capt Amarinder Singh against misleading the people on the issue of construction of concrete wall on the left bank of Hansi-Butana.

Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Tuesday cautioned state Congress chief Capt Amarinder Singh against misleading the people on the issue of construction of concrete wall on the left bank of Hansi-Butana.

Charging Amarinder for consistently and mischievously trying to mislead the people on the issue of construction of a concrete wall,he said in a statement released here that the state government had already sought stay from the Supreme Court on this particular issue and the next hearing was on July 26. Badal said that as the issue of the construction of the wall was already with the Supreme Court, there was no question of approaching the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

He said Amarinder must try to convince the prime minister and the Haryana chief minister to stop this project instead of issuing statements, adding Amarinder cannot hide the anti-Punjab face of Congress by issuing baseless statements on this issue. The deputy chief minister said there was no confusion in the state government about the issue of Hansi-Butana canal and the construction of the wall being separate and independent and it was the Supreme Court which had clubbed the Punjab petition against the construction of the wall with the case relating to the canal. There was no ambiguity on the part of the state government, which had already dealt with these issues as two separate cases,he said.
