State of fare

This Tuesday,the menu boasted of the likes of Bajri Rotli,Khichdi,Dal Dhokhli,Bhindi with capsicum,Aloo Dahi,Chana Desi,special Kadi teamed with aloo parantha,desi ghee on roti and a smorgasbord of chutneys paired with Dahi Chhaach. The sight of the food all elegantly placed in little bowls on the thali is visually appealing and before you dig into the main course,the stewards happily place assorted snacks like sandwich dhokla,which in retrospect is quite unnecessary. “The food from Kathiawar region is not really spicy but flavoursome,” says the head chef Vijay Ram. The Dal Dhokhli is mildly sweet but paired with the non-Punjabi mini aloo parantha is very appetising. So is the Kadi,that’s pure white in colour,another unusual element. “We will be offering different delicacies every day from the region,” says the chef as we made the most of the sumptuous varieties of dals.

Given the fact that Navratras aren’t too far and vegetarian fare will be preferred,this festival will be a good place to get started. “To add to the entertainment,we will have Kathiawadi folk singers perform every hour and a mehendi artist will also be present at the restaurant,” says Rahul Kohli,assistant manager,corporate operations.
