Sood mauls Chadha to record easy win
Playing a controlled game,Manjul Sood scored a 2-0 (67-35,58-14) win over Sandeep Chadha in a first round match in the snooker category in the Ninth Saurabh Khattar Memorial Billiards and Snooker Championship at Chandigarh Club on Wednesday. Sood claimed the first frame with a 67-35 margin before claiming the second frame with a 58-14 margin. In another encounter in the same category,Sanjay Kaushal scored a 2-0 (75-20,85-18) win over Gaurav Sachdev . Kaushal claimed the first frame with a 75-20 margin before claiming the second frame with a 85-18 margin. In billiards category,Vaibhav Anand scored a 150-140 win over HS Sethi while Ajay Singla scored a 150-87 win over Jaskirat Singh.
Chandra shares lead with Ravi and Saqib
Panchkula: Yashas Chandra of Mysore hit an incredible 1 under-par 71 to be in the joint lead in the 16-18 years category on the second day of the Haryana Open in the Toyota Etios Junior Golf Tour being played at Panchkula Golf Club on Wednesday. Rahul Ravi of Eagleton. Bangalore and Saed Saqib Ahmad were the other joint leaders after the end of day’s play. “I am happy with my performance today and hope to maintain the momentum on Thursday. The course was playing well and I am glad to hit a 1-under par to be in joint lead. It is very important to be in lead at the half-way stage of the tournament and I am looking forward to building the lead in the coming two days,” said Chandra.In the 14-16 years category,Overnight joint leader,Arush Ahuja of BPGC,Mumbai extended his lead to three stokes after returning with a card of 79. In the 12-14 years category,Viraj Madappa of RCGC,Kolkata continued to hold on to the lead by one stroke after returning with a card of 8 over despite a tough fight given by Tutul Ali Maula of RCGC,Kolkata who returned with a card 4 over. “I am happy to maintain my lead from yesterday. However,need to work on my putting as there were too many bogeys on my card.” said Viraj. In the category D,Kshitij Naveed Kaul of Delhi Golf Club continued his excellent form from Golden Greens,to take lead the pack by 2 strokes after returning with a card of 8 over. In the girls’ category,Raksha Phadke,Astha Madan and Sehir Atwal lead in category A,B and C respectively.
St Annes drub BTS
Bouyed by combined effort from Shivam (73) and Jupinder (77) St Anne’s Convent School,Sector 32,recorded huge 113-run win over Banyan Tree School,Sector 48 during Saupins Foundation Cup T-20 Cricket Tournament for U-14 in a match played at Banyan Tree School,in Chandigarh on Wednesday. Batting first,St Anne’s School posted a huge total of 253 runs for the loss of two wickets in 20 overs. In reply,BTS team was bundled out for 140 in 16.2 overs.

Harish,Kujur set up TC win
Buoyed by four goals by LAC Harish and a hat-trick by JWO Kujur,Training Command scored an emphatic 8-1 win over air Headquarters in a match of the Air Force Hockey Championship played on Wednsday. The match started on an aggressive note as LAC MK Kanujia of Air Headquarters scored the first goal of the match in the 13th minute of the match. It was only after that the Training Command forwards took control of the match and LAC Harish scored the equaliser in the 15th minute of the match. JWO Kujur then scored his first goal in the 16th minute of the match before scoring another goal for training Command in the 18th minute of the match. Kujur again scored in the 19th minute of the match to give his team a 4-1 lead before LAC Harish scored his second goal in the 43rd minute of the match. Harish again scored in the 51st minute before Balnir scored another goal in the very next minute of the match. LAC Harish then again scored in the 86th minute of the match to hand his team a 8-1 win. In another match of the day,South Western Command scored a 4-2 win over Central Air Command. Sanawar Ali scored two goals for the winning team while Saini and Brar scored one goal each. For the losing team,Prabhakar scored two goals.
