Simrandeep’s hat-trick helps RCF sink EME

A hat-trick by Simrandeep guided Rail Coach Factory,Kapurthala to a narrow 4-3 win over EME in a league match of the 40th SN Vohra All Indian Gurmit Memorial Hockey Tournament being played at Sector 42 Hockey Stadium on Saturday. At one stage of the match,RCF were down by two goals but they fought back hard to win the match with a 4-3 margin.

The match started on an attacking note as EME forwards made some fine runs in the opposition half. Avtar scored the first goal for EME as he successfully converted a penalty corner in the 22nd minute of the match. Five minutes later,Viju scored the second goal for EME as the team led by two goals. Simrandeep scored the first goal in the 29th minute of the match before scoring his second goal and the equaliser for the team in the 38th minute.

Simrandeep scored his third goal of the match in the 44th minute of the match when he successfully converted a penalty corner. EME forwards soon fought back hard and Avtar scored the third goal for the EME in the 60th minute. Ranjot scored the winning goal for RCF,Kapurthala in the 69th minute of the match to hand his team the win.

In the second match of the day,Punjab and Sindh Bank scored a 3-1 win over Indian Navy. Satpal scored the opening goal for PNB in the 24th minute of the match. Ajitesh (28th) and Banmoli (57th) also scored for PNB. Sajil Lakra scored the only goal for Indian Navy in the 43rd minute.
