Shubham,Harshit steer Satluj Academy to final

Shubham bagged four wickets while Harshit Sharma (50) and Saurav Sharma (45 not out) came up with impressive knocks as Satluj Cricket Academy,Panchkula,defeated DAV Cricket Academy B Team by five wickets to enter the final of the Bachitar Singh Memorial cricket league tournament of 40 overs played on Saturday.

Chandigarh: Shubham bagged four wickets while Harshit Sharma (50) and Saurav Sharma (45 not out) came up with impressive knocks as Satluj Cricket Academy,Panchkula,defeated DAV Cricket Academy B Team by five wickets to enter the final of the Bachitar Singh Memorial cricket league tournament of 40 overs played on Saturday. The second semi-final match was postponed due to school examinations. Earlier,DAV team won the toss and elected to bat first. Manoj Mann looked in top form as he smashed seven boundaries during his 66-ball 52 knock. His innings finally came to an end when he was dimissed while going for a big shot. Jagdeep was the only other batsman to show some resistance. He chipped in with 21 runs as the team scored 135 runs in 33 overs. Shubham was the most successful bowler for Satluj Academy as he grabbed four wickets for 28 runs. Mandeep also bowled well and picked up three wickets for 31 runs. In reply,Satluj Academy achieved the target for the loss of five wickets in 31 overs. Harshit was the anchor-in-chief for the team as he top scored with 50 runs off 70 deliveries with the help of five boundaries and one towering six. Saurav Sharma also blazed his way to 61-ball 45 studded with six boundaries. Raman and Jagdeep took two wickets each for DAV Cricket Academy.

Cricket trials today

Mohali: Trials for the selection of under-16 years’ cricket team for Mohali Cricket Association would be held on March 24 at 9 am at the C-Ground at the PCA Stadium in Mohali. The team would take part in the Inter District Tournament to be organised by Punjab Cricket Association for Under- 16 years age group. All the players either studying or living in Mohali are eligible for the trials. The players must be less than 16 years as on 1-9-2013 (i.e. a player must be born on or after 1-9-1997). The players must bring a photocopy of the birth certificate or a certificate from the respective institute to confirm the date of birth.
