Served meat in dal,college girls protest

The girl students at Doaba Group of Colleges in Ghataur were up in arms after they were served meat in dal for their dinner on Wednesday night.

Protesting against what they termed as hurting their religious sentiments and a violation of their vegetarian food habits,a large number of hostellers skipped their classes to hold a massive demonstration in the college campus on Thursday.

Holding placards demanding,Stop non-vegetarian food preparation or separate canteen and mess,the students also complained about unhygienic conditions in the mess,which they claimed,were leading to several health hazards.

Taking note of the matter,the colleges Chief Executive Officer,Jeet Singh went to the spot and pacified the agitated students admitting the hostel authorities fault.

He also took an undertaking that such an incident will not be repeated in future.

We will be more vigilant and exercise restraint to avoid any such problem in the future, Singh assured students,following which the protest was called off.

Narrating the nightmarish experience,some girls,on condition of anonymity,told reporters that they were shocked to discover meat in the dal served to them over dinner.

Several students,some of whom were baptized,began vomiting on consuming the dal,they added.
