British painter and miniaturist Henry Singleton,between 1784 and 1839,exhibited close to 300 works at the Royal Academy of Art,London. Among them were works depicting the legends of Tipu Sultan,the ruler of Mysore in the latter half of the 18th century. The concluding auction in Osians Creative India Series includes an oil sketch by Singleton titled The Assault and Taking of Seringapatam,apart from featuring works from Goa,Cholamandal and South India. The sketch,made in 1800,was once part of Lord Wellesleys collection.

The auction will also feature other antiques and prints on Tipu Sultan,artworks from Tanjore,Tamil Nadu and Kerala and works by a number of Modern masters,including DP Roychowdhury,FN Souza,K Ramanujam,J Sultan Ali,Laxma Goud and L Munuswamy and contemporary artists including Surendran Nair,Riyas Komu and Vasudha Thozur. The opening preview of these works of art will be held on June 9 at Osians office in Nariman Point,and the auction at the Taj Mahal Palace,Colaba,on June 21.

Last week,Mehta,who is an Asian Games medalist and Indias first paraplegic sportswoman to qualify for international events,met with school students at the grand finale of the British Councils three week summer school in Delhi. She spoke to students who demonstrated their teamwork,creativity and language skills through music,dance and theatre performances all of which were based on the theme The Olympics at the British Council Theatre. Malik called the event a platform to share her experiences and spread awareness towards para-sports. This is a subject close to my heart. It is a journey which I have been on for almost six years now, said Malik.

A self-proclaimed 'godman' was arrested in Agra for sexual harassment and misappropriation of funds. He was accused of sending inappropriate messages and photoshopping pictures with politicians. The Delhi Police traced him to Agra and froze his accounts and fixed deposits. He was previously booked for harassing 19 women at a private institute.
