All that Glitters

Jewellery is set to make a glittering comeback on TLC with the second season of the show Oh My Gold with a new host — former Miss India Nikita Anand. “The new season is an extension of the old one,but this time we travel further and deeper to newer cities ,” says Anand, who has interestingly made her investment in diamonds. “That was until I did the show and saw all the work and experimentation that has been going on in the world of gold,” she adds. Along with the old and glorious, the spotlight this season is on what’s new and exciting in the world of jewellery. This season will explore the wealth of jewellery in cities such as Kolkata,Chennai,Thiruvananthapuram and Pune. “From the culture of ornamentation and temple rituals to modern day designs inspired by iconic artists,to discovering popular-style jewellery made out of terracotta,to exploring the traditional styles such as gold bead work, latticework and filigree work — the new season ‘blings’ it all in,” she says. The show airs every Monday at 9 pm,on TLC.

The collection, reveals the designer,is a tribute to these women who were known to have “some of the most desired jewellery pieces in all time”. The Art Karat line-up focuses on kundan work that has been given a contemporary look by pairing it with carved gold,South Indian temple designs and various semi-precious stones.
