Sec 16 dispensary awaiting doctors

A dispensary in Sector 16,which was constructed by Haryana Urban Development Authority, has been waiting for start of services for over eight months now.

A dispensary in Sector 16,which was constructed by Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA),has been waiting for start of services for over eight months now.

The health department, during January 2008,consented to take over the building on completion by HUDA. The work was allotted by HUDA on May 28,2008. A proposal to Director General Health Services (DGHS) for creation of posts for this dispensary was moved in August,2008.

Subhash Papneja,General Secretary,Resident Welfare Association of Sector 16 said,“Four inspections have been conducted. But every time on one pretext or other, the health department is not taking over the building. They have pointed out problems like outdoor benches and also obstacles for cattle.”

The dispensary was to cater to Sectors 9,15,17 and 18 and also Budhanpur village and slums of Rajiv and Indira colony. It would have reduced the burden on General Hospital,Sector 6.

Councillor of Sector 16,Bhawna Guipta said,“I have written to the HUDA administrator in this regard. He informed me that the building was handed over to the health department. But as they do not have the staff they are not starting the dispensary. I have also complained to Civil Surgeon,Panchkula, about initiating the project.”

Civil Surgeon,Dr V K Bansal maintained that he had sent the proposal to higher authorities for starting the dispensary. “We need lots of things like furniture and laboratory facilities to run a dispensary. I have sent the proposal, but a reply is awaited.”
