Eager to share phone numbers, okay with first moves…city girls beat glitzy metro babes in an interesting dating survey
This will come as a surprise. When it comes to bold, outgoing and uninhibited girls, where do you think they reside in the country? If you answered Delhi or Mumbai or perhaps another happening metro, then its time we told you,You Are Mistaken! For topping the charts in a survey conducted by Axe Research Laboratory across six Indian cities is our very own Chandigarh. The survey saw 750 girls between the ages 18 and 25 being questioned across the cities of Delhi,Pune,Mumbai,Chandigarh,Ahmedabad and Bangalore on issues pertaining to dating. Heres more. While 92 percent of girls in the major metros confessed they would be willing to exchange phone numbers with a guy if they liked him in the first meeting, back home in Chandigarh all the girls asked replied in the affirmative, making it a neat 100 percent! Thats not all. Ninety-one percent of these girls also admitted that the mobile phone is the best way to keep the romance going and that before meeting their date they would prefer to judge him by his phone manners!
The rules of dating have changed and the findings show that the ladies in the non-metros are equally progressive, remarks Priya Nayar, category head (Oral and Deos) at Hindustan Unilever as she discusses the just-released survey conducted by the brand, best known for their lineup of Axe deodrants for men. This survey was carried out a few months back by their Axe Research Laboratory. The Axe labs are all over the world. From Argentina to sites in the USA to deep in the English countryside, informs Nayar. Behind the doors lie one of the most advanced laboratories in understanding women, their liking and preferences! Like in this case, the Labs studied style and fragrance trends relevant for young girls in India. These understandings and trends are used into a creative process to generate the most inspiring male fragrance concepts, Nayar explains.
Interestingly, the girls from the city were equally bindaas with their opinions on mobile flirting and making the first move, provided they liked the guy! There was a time when approaching a guy first made you look silly but not any more, admits city-based model Rhea. Elsewhere,Neha Verma,a 22-year-old PU student spells out the funda of her age group. Giving out phone numbers to strangers is a no-no. But if we meet someone we like through an acquaintance or through a social networking site as Orkut or Facebook, then numbers do get exchanged to take the story forward, explains Verma. Either ways, its the ladys prerogative.
