RTE row: Vivek High School to file reply today

Vivek High School in Sector 38 will reply to the UT Education departments notice,regarding vacant seats under the economic weaker section quota,on Tuesday.

Vivek High School in Sector 38 will reply to the UT Education departments notice,regarding vacant seats under the economic weaker section (EWS) quota,on Tuesday.

It has been learnt that the school will seek clarification on whether it should implement the 25 per cent EWS quota under the RTE Act or the 15 per cent as per a notification issued by the UT Education department.

The department had sought information regarding EWS seats from all private schools. However,apart from Vivek High School,all other 34 private unaided schools provided the information.

Taking strict note of it,the department had issued notice to the school on March 22 and had given it 10 days to file a reply. Director Vivek High School and president Independent Schools Association (ISA) H S Mamik said that the school has prepared a reply and will submit on April 2 with the education meeting. On March 22,the private unaided schools had declared that there will be no vacancies for EWS students unless and until the authorities clarify issues regarding the RTE Act.
