Superintendent Tejinder Singh,and his deputy Parminder have been booked under the NDPS Act. Punjab Police registered a criminal case against a superintendent and deputy superintendent of jail,Ropar for supplying drugs to prisoners. Tejinder Singh Sodhi,Superintendent and Parminder Singh,Deputy Superintendent were booked under the NDPS Act. Punjab Police informed the Punjab and Haryana High Court of this development today during the resumed hearing of a petition filed by a Mohali resident - Tarlochan Singh. Tarlochan was lodged at Ropar district jail when he filed the petition. Advocate Navkiran Singh,counsel for the inmate is also seeking an inquiry against the officials high-handedness towards prisoners reporting illegal activities. A copy of the FIR was placed on record today before a division bench comprising Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justice Mahesh Grover. The bench has sought details of departmental proceedings initiated against the two. The duo were placed under suspension and have been issued show cause notices asking to explain why they should not be dismissed from service. The two delinquent officers were placed under suspension by the state Director-General of Police (Prisons) on October 12,2010. Both the officers were chargesheeted on May 12 last year. Their replies to the allegations were found to be unsatisfactory.
