With his new album,Harbhajan Mann wants to bring Punjabi music on the international platform

One element that audience does not want in a movie or a song is an in-the-face lecture. They prefer a twist in the tale,a subtle teaching, not preaching,” says Harbhajan Mann,as we catch up with him at the Big FM Studio in Manimajra, where he releases his new album Vaari Vaari, his eigteenth music album that is a mix of entertainment and thought-provoking social messages. “While songs like Maa Di Boli Aan promote Punjabi as a language,Pooran Put Pardesi is dedicated to families who have sent their loved ones abroad for work or studies and Raateen Peeni is unadulterated fun,” he says.

Mann started work on the album on January 9 and it has been released after much market research. “I read the editorials of around 16 newspapers everyday to understand the pulse of public,” Mann says, adding that each of his album is created with a vision. “With Vaari Vaari,I want to bring back Punjabi music on the international platform. I want music to transcend all language barriers,” he says, adding that the album, which has been made in collaboration with Babu Singh Mann,Jaidev Kumar and T Series has slow romantic numbers, foot tapping songs and lyrics with deeper meaning.

“I have been busy with movies of late,” Mann says. After the release of movie Jee Aayan Nu,he took upon himself to release one movie a year. “I did this to revive the networking, distribution and marketing of Punjabi movies in India,” Mann says. “It’s about giving my best shot at everything I do,” he says.
