Road rage: Mohali man booked for abusing,manhandling journalist

A resident of Mohali was booked on Thursday night in a case of road rage,after he allegedly roughed up a senior journalist of a national Hindi daily.

A resident of Mohali was booked on Thursday night in a case of road rage,after he allegedly roughed up a senior journalist of a national Hindi daily.

Jagdeep Singh was arrested on charges of forcibly blocking the journalist’s way and then manhandling him. The incident occurred around 9.15 pm at the intersection of Sectors 45,46,49 and 50.

According to the police,Jagdeep,who was driving his Innova, got irritated when the journalist,who was waiting in his car for the signal to turn green,did not give him way to jump the red light. “Singh started hurling abuses. After the signal turned green and both the cars crossed the intersection,Singh forcibly blocked the journalist’s way and got out of his vehicle. He roughed up the complainant and abused him in public,” said an officer. Based on a written complaint,Jagdeep,who is a builder,was booked on charges of causing hurt and wrongful restraint. His vehicle was impounded too.
