Retired Panchkula court judge dies by suicide near railway station in Kurukshetra
Ravinder Kumar Kashyap had stepped out of his residence in Panchkula on Thursday morning for a morning walk. His body was found near Shahbad-Markanda railway station a day later.

A retired judge allegedly died by suicide near Shahbad-Markanda railway station in Haryana’s Kurukshetra district on Friday, the police said, adding that his body was found near the railway tracks.
The police identified the deceased as Ravinder Kumar Kashyap, 78, a resident of Panchkula, and said that he had retired from Panchkula district court several years ago. Kashyap had stepped out of his residence in Panchkula on Thursday morning for a morning walk and the police are investigating how he reached Shahbad.
“The deceased had celebrated his wife’s birthday days ago. On Friday morning, he left his home telling his family members that he was going out for a walk. He never returned,” Sub-Inspector Kamal Kumar said. “A suicide note and some cash was recovered from his pocket. In the note, he had written his name, address and phone number. When we dialed that number, his wife picked up the phone. This is how we informed the deceased’s family about the incident. They reached Shahbad and identified the body,” Kumar added.
According to the police, in the hand-written note found in his pant pocket, Kashyap had said he was dying by suicide as nobody should be blamed for his death.
Kashyap’s son Nipun told the police that the family used to stay in Shahbad till a few years ago after which they shifted to Panchkula’s Sector 27. On Wednesday, Ravinder celebrated his wife Sarla’s birthday and left home on Thursday. Nipun told the police that his father used to go for a morning walk every day at around 8 am and return by 10 am, but he did not return on Thursday morning.
